About Us

Chad lives the mentality of "Always a Student" while connecting people to the outdoors with new levels of confidence. He’s found that there is always something new to learn no matter how experienced you are in any skillset. Seeing this in himself and others is what motivates him.

Chad is an affiliate and apprentice instructor for The Gray Bearded Green Beret where he can be found across the US both learning and refining skills while helping others do the same. He runs Cedar Survival locally and is active in his local Search & Rescue organization in the Pacific Northwest's unforgiving climate and terrain. If it's a mission or training involving vertical terrain, rope work, waterfalls, rivers or jumping out of perfectly good watercraft (or all of those things combined) you'll likely find him there sporting a large grin. That is, if he’s not out teaching or working on the off-grid yurt-cabin that’s become his family’s newest project.

Chad was exposed to the outdoors mostly through hunting and camping as a very young child and has had a love of all things outside ever since. This led to many pursuits over the years including his involvement in rescue work, backpacking, mountaineering, tactical training, long-range shooting and survival & wilderness skills. His current obsessions when free-time can be snuck-in are primitive skills, edible/medicinal plant usage and any courses that will broaden his wilderness skill knowledge.
